The role of adipose tissue in articular joints

Our recent hypothesis paper has just been approved to be published in Frontiers in Veterinary Medicine in the special issue “one step at a time” Advances in osteoarthritis, edited by Prof Dr Ali Mobasheri from Surrey University, UK

White adipose, a tissue which fascinating roles in metabolism, energetic balance but as well in growth and  development, has a intriguing presence within the major joints. Adipose fat pads are recently implicated in joint pathological processes but our hypothesis is the tissue has a significant role in maintaining metabolic balance within the joint. If proved correct this theory might explain the good results seen in patients treated with intraarticular micronized  adipose tissue or with adipose tissue derived mesenchymal cells
